January, 2005

Hello,

Another year has come and gone. In keeping with my interest in shameless self-promotion, it’s time once again to indulge in the obligatory “year-in- review”, an annual look back at some highlights, and a brief update of current events. So throw on some coffee, turn off the ringer, and fluff that pillow….

Last year saw the release of Jon Hartmann’s third CD, “Pacific Electric”. I had the pleasure of playing percussion on the entire record, and I played drums on several tracks, as well. Jon writes great tunes that are quirky and melodious. To learn more about Jon, go to www.jonhartmannmusic.com.

I had the pleasure of working with Pianist Joel Clemmons for the first time this past year, recording on two of his records. One, a Christmas album entitled, “Christmas is Cool”, was just released. The other is still in the production phase and is yet to be titled.

Many of you may know that I have been playing percussion with singer songwriter Nikhil Korula for a couple of years now. Last Memorial Day weekend,‘04, we recorded a full-length CD, entitled, “The Way Things Work” which is now available. Nikhil’s music is uplifting and high energy, alluding to a variety of stylistic influences: Classic/Southern Rock, Afro-Pop, Latin, & R&B. We kicked off the release of the album with a packed show at The House of Blues in Hollywood. See my calendar page for upcoming gigs, or go to www.nkband.com for more info. Samples of these recordings are available on the “recordings” page of this site.

More good news: This year I will be playing drum set with “Odyssey” (Top 40, R&B) every Friday Saturday and Sunday at Banana Bay restaurant, (amazing Thai food!), in Rowland Heights. Drop me a line and I’ll tell you how to get there. Great Thai food!

Lastly, I continue to teach drum lessons out of my downtown studio. If you were directed to my site by a “Drum Lessons” advertisement, please go to my “Lessons” page for information about scheduling and rates. Click on “contact me” to ask questions or to get you or your child started as soon as possible.
Thanks for stopping by…enjoy a look around the site. Happy 2005!
